$3.90, $4.10, $5.10 …

It’s another seven and a half hour school day and, despite eating a relatively hearty breakfast, I’m starving by the time the clock strikes 3 pm.
You know how they say never go grocery shopping on an empty stomach? Well, “they” clearly know what “they” are talking about. Empty stomach + student union cafeteria + hungry eyes = bad combo. Nothing good comes out of that situation –especially for the wallet. I learned that lesson last week.

My food choices often depend on which cuisine has the shortest line.

Surprisingly, the salad bar usually has the fewest people and so I make my way there more often than not. However, when I want something more filling or perhaps to quench my thirst, I make a beeline to the Jamba Juice counter.
It happened four times last week and three times during the prior week. In addition to being wildly unhealthy, it has grown to be an expensive habit.

The ‘random’ prices you see listed above are the prices of the average Jamba Juice smoothie, according to its size. A 160z smoothie will cost you ~$3.90, a 24oz  ~$4.10, and a whopping power size will cost ~$5.10.  Continue reading
